Garance gets her first magazine cover and its definitely a must have. It's just a simple portrait of actress Demi Moore, but it stands out brilliantly because magazine covers usually do not have illustrations on them. I am running out on my lunch break on the hunt for this. It has to be in my coffee table collection!
I'm a sucker for anything comic book inspired. Take a look at Michael Myers new series of vintage super heroes. They are clean and colorful with a touch of vintage. Go get some prints and frame for a polished look.
I have never been one to believe in horoscopes. I know people that read them everyday and go as far as making life decisions based on what a horoscope tells them to do. For some time I have been randomly reading Free Will Astrology by Rob Brezny and now I'm hooked. One day I was reading the NY Village Voice and I stumbled upon my horoscope. It did not say anything dramatic or Earth shattering, but it was like reading advice from a friend. You didn't really have to be of that particular sign to take something away from the message and I found it more philosophical than anything else. I started reading all of the horoscope signs and found that they are just good advise in general, for anyone, without mixing in all of the astrological jumbo. I suggest you bookmark this or go out and get the book. And make sure you read more than just your own horoscope!
I have an addiction and its called Pineapple fried rice. Mo-Ra-Kote is one of the best Thai places out there because the food is fresh, has a very "home made" feeling, and the staff is super friendly. The Pineapple fried rice with shrimp is so amazing that I went back for another round in the same week. You have to go and try this. I also had the delicious curry puffs and the Tom Kha soup. After I got the bill I wrote on the receipt, "This is the best fried rice in the world!".
A big thank you to Liam Pilotin, who captured an awesome moment of dancing and fun at Cielo while we jammed to DJ Center. This looks like my body is going into the astral world and I'm about to meet a higher power. I love it, mostly because lately I have been feeling like my spirit is leaving my body and bringing good vibes to everyone around me.
I love Japanese Batman! He is so much cooler and slimmer than his American counterpart. I might have to pick up a copy of this just for the artwork.
The Stand has my new Summer favorite fatty drink. Obviously, I'm not going to go and get one of these everyday, BUT maybe i can treat myself to once a month? The toasted marshmallow gelato shake will make you wanna have sex with it. A true orgasm in your mouth. Maybe get the burger, maybe not. It's not the big deal at this burger joint.
The National Geographic museum in DC has an amazing exhibit on the famous Terracotta warriors. These were discovered in 1974 by farmers in China and is considered one of the most important finds for archaeologists today. These were the first line of defense for the first emperor of China.
I was so intrigued by the story of the warriors and of the first emperor of China mainly because the curator at the exhibit did such a wonderful job of providing all types of information in an easy to follow format. There was so much detail and information and it was all exciting and new. Sometimes you go to a museum and you are kind of bored, not sure were you should be focusing, tired from too much information. In this case I felt like a kid in a candy store. All of the information was easy to follow and all of the pieces that were in the exhibit had something to contribute to this great history of China and the first emperor. I was extremely impressed with the way this was handled.

I have recently been trying to become more active in my health, but obviously I love to eat and I don't want to give up all the amazing flavor I get from food. As time goes by and I try new things I am discovering that being a vegetarian is not what people think at all. I have not completely crossed over, but I feel that these days I eat more veggie friendly dishes than not. Vegetarian Dim Sum House is a great place to take someone who is new to the veggie world. It's a great showcase on how flavor does not have to be lost by going a more healthy route. This is hands down one of my new favorite places.
The menu at this little spot is not only for dim sum, but that is what I've tried so far, so I'll write about what I know. Get the delicious Chinese broccoli to start. The garlic infused in the broccoli has a great flavor and the crunch factor is to die for. Try the rice flour rolls and the amazing spring rolls. The mashed taro treasure boxes are crowd pleasers and the turnip cakes were a delicious surprise that I could not get over. I can't wait to go back.
Vegetarian Dim Sum House
If you need any alterations done on your clothing and you are anywhere near Georgetown in DC, you need to go to Ms. Lee! I have never seen a woman take such charge of a shop and be a walking machine like she is. She hemmed a pair of pants perfectly in under 2 minutes. the woman is a robot! Gotta love her.
This last weekend brought us beautiful weather. I was walking around in Georgetown and Manny took me to Cafe La Ruche. We both had a quiche party and you should too. Stop by when it's nice out again so that you can sit outside. The waitresses are super friendly too!

Last night I went out to catch Angel Corella in a very interesting ballet. It was all luke warm, but then Angel and his sister stepped out and did a dance with a very Spanish/Flamenco vibe and it gave my friend and I goosebumps! It was the best thing they could have done and on it's own was worth the 20 bucks I paid to get in. His power and precision combined with her grace and elegance was something to remember. The other thing to remember was the out of control tranny with a bad weave that was trying to get better seats. People could not take their eyes off her! lol.
I used to have a vespa like this when I was about 3. I wish I could find the picture of me playing with it. I'm learning how to drive too, so you never know. I might be sporting one like this guy in a years time...
I adore Tim Burton and I usually drool over Mr. Depp, but in this case I feel I was let down. Tim Burton's version of Alice in Wonderland did not seem like a Burton film at all. There was no real genre to this and I don't have any idea where to classify it. The fact that I even have to think about it is bizarre. I think the problem lies in the fact that there wasn't enough of a change from the original to make it interesting. hmmm. Even IMAX 3D wasn't enough to wow me. Something is terribly wrong.
One of my favorite NYC restaurants is mourning the death of it's owner this week. I love going to Zucco and sitting by the chefs so I can peek at how they make all the yummy food. Zucco would be there sometimes and I would ask him about random polaroids he has all over the tiny restaurant. He was always very friendly and I'm glad he knew how much I loved his food, because I would always tell him. I need to go back and stuff my face in memoriam. It's the only way I can pay tribute to this amazing establishment.
Here are some images of the last collection the late Alexander McQueen designed. This is very regal and powerful. Only a very self assured woman can pull this off, but if she does she will be the most fabulous of them all. This all has such an amazing eye for detail and the colors are vivid. they literally pop off the screen. My favorites are the first two dresses on this post. Enjoy.
This Friday March 12th is going to be FUNKY! DJ Center is having an album release party at CIELO and we are going to go sweat it out. The lord knows I need a workout and Center always gets me dancing. It's $10 before midnight and $20 after.
Congratulations to the happy couple! I had so much fun at this wedding. The bride looked absolutely stunning in a dress made by Bolivian bridal couture designer Maria. I saw this dress up close and personal and I was amazed at the attention to detail and the fit. This is the perfect fairytale wedding dress so you better WORK that Disney couture! haha.
Liya Kebede rolls into the Elle Italia issue looking absolutely fabulous. The hair is amazing and I love the wild feeling you get from her cluttery outfit. It's all very untamed. This woman is not getting old. It's just not gonna happen.
