More crepes pop up in soho
Crepes are popping up everywhere. The latest is La Crepe Parisienne on Spring and Lafayette. Its a month old and the place seemed to be jammed packed. When I asked someone that lives in the area to comment they said "It's overpriced. I mean, it's just a crepe!". As much as I want to agree, there is a reason why all those people are in that shop. Yes, crepes are easy to make, but people would dish out the cash if they felt that they were getting something here that they can't find somewhere else. I say more crepes anywhere is a good thing. I'll be happy when they are in every corner in NYC, right next to the hot dog carts.
Setagaya is for ramen lovers
Go get your ramen on at Setagaya! This small joint has been getting such great reviews that I decided to show up with my ramen virgin friend Eduard. Let's just say he liked it so much that he is ready to slut it up and go to a bunch of different ramen places all over the city. Don't forget to get the seafood gyoza. Everything was good to the last slurp. YUM

Art of the Samurai: Japanese Arms and Armor
Restore your honor by going to the MET and seeing one of the coolest exhibits I have ever seen in my life. Art of the Samurai: Japanese Arms and Armor is on display now and will go on until January 10th, 2010. The exhibit is devoted to the art of the Samurai and is one of a kind because all of the pieces shown are extremely difficult to get. The fact that the museum was able to put all of it together for this limited time is incredible. Items where taken from various museums in Tokyo and from private collections.
Stepping in, the first thing that caught my eye where the beautiful swords on display. They are made with such detail and precision. There is a great video in the beginning of the exhibit that shows the hard work and art that goes into making these swords. After that, I was blown away by the armors and head pieces that were used by the samurai. Each piece shown has a great story behind it and the colors and textures pop out in a way I have never seen before. You will do yourself a great favor if you check this out.
Go online to check out more about the exhibit.

Please make sure you do all you can to help the environment. Something simple like taking mass transportation, using bio-degradable materials instead of plastic all the time, or recharging batteries can lead to a more healthy planet. Do your part and stay FABULOUS while you save the planet! Here are pictures of other people from all over the world trying to get the message out there that we need to take this into our own hands.

It's shabu shabu time
Before this last weekend I had no idea what shabu shabu was. My boo and I ended up watching Lost in Translation and since shabu shabu makes an appearance in the movie I was enlightened on what it is. Basically, it's thinly sliced meats and vegetables that are cooked in boiling broth, then if desired dipped in different sauces. I like this kind of food because its interactive. You get to play with your food, make it, then eat it. I went from not knowing a thing about this to being super excited because this coming weekend I will finally have my shabu shabu and eat it too!
Here's a list of some restaurants with this type of dish so you can get your shabu shabu on too.
I'll update on Sunday and spill the beans on where I went to eat.

**Update: I ended up at Naniwa, on 46th between 5th and Madison and it was unbelievable. Not only did we eat all you can eat shabu shabu, but we had unlimited drinks! The sake was great and the restaurant itself is pretty authentic. Naniwa's main draw, aside from the food, is that they have traditional Japanese rooms where you sit on the floor on a tatami and eat. it's a great find. I can't wait to go back.
Huskie love
Aww. Look at this beautiful Huskie. It would be so cute to walk around with one in the winter, specially when it snows and I have a warm cup of apple cider. I could name him Gambit! lol

Kristen Stewart does Elle
John Mayer on Obama, butt rape, and dumb editors
This is a hilarious interview done by Christianna Ablahad for New York Magazine. She asks John Mayer all types of current event questions and the singer is not holding back his tongue at all. I had to share this.
What do you think about Obama receiving the Nobel Peace Prize?
I think it's fantastic. Why? What's your overall opinion?Do you think I'm smart enough to be able to articulate to you why our president receiving the Nobel Peace Prize is a bit early for things? What's your overall opinion?
I think it's a bit premature. Someone compared it to giving an Oscar to someone still making a film.
So you don't think he should have it.
I don't think it's a bad thing, but maybe someone else deserved it more.
Who? If you don't know who else should have gotten it instead of Obama, I love you, you're beautiful, but shut your fucking mouth.
What do you think about health care? Would you take the public option?
Have you ever heard me play guitar? I'm really fucking good. You know what I'm bad at? Answering questions about public health care. This is not in my wheelhouse. Do you have any questions about music? I almost got a mad need to lighten up. You need to lighten up, because the questions you asked me were all troublemaking questions. If someone gave me the Nobel Peace Prize, and I didn't deserve it, I would just shut my mouth and enjoy the hell out of it.
Which I'm sure he's doing. What's he going to do, send it back? It's like I'm getting a wrongful bulge in my pants and everyone's thinking I've got a nine-inch cock. I'm not going to argue with them, I'm going to let them think I have a nine-inch cock.
How about a style question?
Yes, this seems to be apropos. Do you get paid for this?
I do it more for fun.
You do this for fun? That's like me saying ... never mind.
What do you think about guys with seventies mustaches?
I don't give a fuck about who wears their face what way. If I could grow a beard, I'd have some nutty things going on on my face.
You can't grow a beard?
It's a pituitary thing. I know you're not that much of a moron.
These are questions my editor wanted me to ask. I'm trying to build my journalistic career here.
You're not building a journalistic career. You're making yourself look like a moron and you're not a moron. Who's your editor?
Jada.
Jada is making you sound like a moron in front of people.
Why don't you tell me about your new album? You've been in the studio for a while.
I have a record coming out November 17.
Any particular theme or inspiration behind this one that makes it different from previous albums?
Look what we're doing right now! We're connecting right now! This is great! Yeah, it's going to be quite melodically bright, but the themes are all about heartbreak.
How is that different? Haven't you written a lot about heartbreak?
I think most artists do, but this is really breaking into the theme of it as a concept.
Is there hope behind the heartbreak?
The melody is the hope. The lyrics are the heartbreak, the melody is the hope. If you have the lyrics being the heartbreak and the music as the heartbreak, your editor made you ask stupid fucking questions! You're standing in front of me acting as if these questions are fair, but now we're talking about something real. So there was stuff I wanted to put on the record that just didn't fit the concept. So the next record will have that concept.
What concept?
More political things, worldly things.
Such as?
Nothing rhymed with public option.
You don't always have to rhyme, though.I'm going to forcefully sodomize your editor.

Towleroad brings you the gay news...
(Picture above by Brendan Smialowski)
It is a shame that I went on 2 major news websites (CNN and Yahoo) and was not able to find an article about the important National Equality March going on this weekend. It is a historic event headed by gay rights leaders and supported by all who want a change in this nation. It is also a shame that I found more information on facebook and a gay blog website called Towleroad. Why is the main headline on CNN.com about a stupid E-reader? This is why people are so uninformed and I commend people for making sure their friends know about whats going on, even if it is on facebook and blogs.
Follow Towleroad for all your gay news...

R.I.P Irving Penn
One of the most influential fashion photographers has passed away at the age of 92. His legacy will live on with his work. I had previously posted some of his work that was on display at the MET's "The Model as Muse" exhibit.

Letterman is just like the cheating politicians he jokes about
Give me a reason to hate a gap toothed person and I will run with it like the wind. This scum bag loves making jokes about politicians and their cheating ways, but then gets caught screwing someone at his job. The only reason this came out was because that guy that was going to blackmail him leaked everything. I am sure that Letterman is sorry he got caught and not so "sorry" that he hurt his wife. Ugh. Disgust.

Rihanna who?
Vintage travel posters
These vintage travel posters will never go out of style. At fist glance these posters seem rather simple and one dimensional, until you realize that they capture the destination they advertise in it's totality. It's like the poster is really taking you on the trip before you even get on the plane. I guess this is a good example of "less is more". Some of the best are by artists like Gayle Ullman, Kerne Erickson, and David Klein. Allposters.com seems to have a pretty good selection.
Thank you Manny for getting us obsessed with this. lol

Say NO to bottled water
The Fabulous Ru Blog is taking a stand against a new threat.
SAY NO TO BOTTLED WATER!
In most places, tap water is a perfectly good water source and if you can you can purchase a filter to have your mind at ease. The plastic used for all of these water bottles will never go away (most people do not recycle, so I stick by that statement) and why the f*** are people paying for water anyway!??!?
