Love*Sex*Magic

Ciara has been around for a bit now doing her thing, but I felt somehow she hasn't really been stepping it up. Her first album was a huge hit, then her second effort was a little bland. Now she is just giving you all types of posing and sex in this new video with Justin Timberlake called "Love Sex Magic". To be honest, when I first watched it my mouth was a little open. Not only was Ciara finally what I always wanted her to be, but she had Justin in the video sticking his tongue out and licking stuff. LICKING HER!
Watch the video and then tell me if it doesn't make you wanna take a stripper pole class so you can do some tricks. Just go watch it and let me know. I dare you.

Cristina hooks it up with a new trinity

(Corner of La Esquina on top and fabulous Eileen's cheesecakes below)
Last night I was shown the light by my friend Cristina. Just when you think you know a person they come out with some S*** and tell you the food secrets you have been waiting for. After a lovely time in Topshop (Shout-out to the prettiest girl at the register Monique for being down for a few laughs) and buying some things we went to La Esquina. I know people don't usually like tripe, or gizzards, or cow tongue, but you need to get over this so you can go try this tongue taco. AMAZING! When I put it in my mouth I though, "damn, I wish this was a burrito so I could eat more of it". Then we crossed the street and picked up some homemade chips and dip from Mexican Radio. We also picked up 3 little cream cheesecakes from Eileen's Special Cheesecake store. To say that we went home and massacred the chips would be an understatement. WE ANNIHILATED THE CHIPS. OMG, they were so good and crispy and fresh and I wanna marry them. Then we whipped out the cheesecakes and brought it to a whole new level. You just wanted to put your face in it. really. if this sounds like a very sexual posting it's because we really make love to that food. ALL OVA! I am so obsessed that i might go to the same 3 places and get the same stuff tonight before I go dance it up and be cute.

Stay away from Los Dados restaurant

It takes a lot to piss me off at a restaurant, but somehow Los Dados and their bad service did the trick. I went last night to get a snack before meeting up for drinks with some friends and it was a nightmare. First, it takes about 20 minutes to make me a simple lamb burrito. Then the waiter comes and brings me some crap that I did no order, so I had to wait almost 10 more minutes for them to get it right. Meanwhile I am waiting, falling asleep, and hungry. No one offered me free chips, or a free drink, or anything. I was just there...waiting...like a hungry child.

When the burrito finally came, it wasn't even that good. The cheese was not melted and the lamb did not have much flavor. As I was walking out of that hell hole I noticed the people sitting at the table across from me were also complaining about how inattentively the waitstaff was and how they wish they would have gone to Pastis instead.

Please stay away from this place if you stumble upon it when you're out in the Meatpacking district. I warn you now, so that you don't end up there and have to curse somebody out.

Instead go to Sea or the ever so lovely Barbuto.

Whole Foods is finally going uptown!

GET EXCITED!

Whole Foods will be opening a new store on 97th street and Columbus Avenue this August. I might not have to move from Washington Heights after all. A representative of the supermarket chain has confirmed that the August open is pretty firm. You know I'm going to be up in there everyday buying random stuff. The supermarket I go to on 191st is a DUMP! One day I went into that place and they did not even have mushrooms. I mean, that is a pretty basic vegetable. The meat there is also not the best quality. I rather pay more and know that I'm putting something decent in my gut.

I die for Topshop

I am pissed that I have to be at work now instead of standing outside of Topshop waiting for it to open at 11AM. I am sure there are all types of crazy MOFOS out there dying to get in and buy everything. The store is getting so raped today it's not even funny. People have been waiting for this for months. I am one of them. I bought some white shoes in London from Topshop's Topman line and ever since I have been wanting a reunion so I can buy more crap that does not fit in my apartment. I'll go this weekend and hopefully they will have something left. Even if it's just socks cause I need socks. lol

Let's play a Love Game

I think this girl is a total nut job. Recently she has been admitting that doing lines of cocaine inspires her to write music and then there's all those "outfits". At the same time, I love her music. She is fresh, can sing, and has awesome beats. Here are some stills from her new video for "Love Games". I AM LOVING IT! In a world where I barely see any music videos anymore, this is the light at the end of the tunnel. She's making me want to see what's next.

What are they feeding Gisele?

I don't know what type of Flintstones vitamins this chick is taking, but I WANT IT!
To be honest, she is probably my favorite supermodel. I do love Arlenis, but she is so new. Gisele has a million and one amazing pictures to choose from. Vanity Fair hooked it up again and gave us a super sexy Gisele. Last year it was all about the fabulous dress she had on in their Brazil cover, but this time it seems to be a more sensuous tone. I love it. Viva Gisele!

Vintage Addicted is here!

Let's take it to another level with the fabulosity that is Vintage Addicted.
It's a new company that is aiming for the everyday city girl that has confidence and knows who she is. They want you to be ICONIC!

Check out these pics that show off some of the clothes that will be selling on their online store very soon. I am in 100% support of this, not only because it is young creative people coming out with their own fun ideas, but also because the clothes are actually fun. Everything looks like it has a story behind it and looks fun to wear. Seems to be like everyone going to be addicted this summer.
PS. These models are smoking HOT. We have to find out who they are!
;-)

The TV died because there is no more Drag Race

I have a hole in my heart and it's causing me to want to throw my TV out the window.
My favorite show is already over and I have nothing to watch. NOTHING! TV sucks right now.
The infamous Drag Race finale was on Monday and it was a surprise shocker win for CAMAROOOON! To be honest i really thought that Nina Flowers was going to win, but I think Bebe is also a great performer and she brings all types of glamour to the table. I'm hoping next season is more then just 8 episodes and I think it will be because everyone is talking about this show. The buzz is strong and RuPaul is back on the map. Here are a list of things currently in my vocabulary thanks to this show:

1. CAMAROOOOON!

2. Loca (at the beginning or end of any sentence)

3. The time has come for you to__________for your life (in the blank insert whatever activity you are doing at the moment)

4. Save yourself, from ELIMINATION...

5. EXTRAVAGANZA POWER!

Paradiso, La casa del tiramisu

Avenue B is popping off with all kinds of cute places to go eat. To be honest, the entire east village is. The other day I went back to Royale (11th street and Avenue C) for another awesome burger. After that my friends and I bumped into the cutest little cafe on the planet. Maybe in the universe. Paradiso, La casa del tiramisu had us giggling, savoring, and wanting to come back as soon as we had a free chance. Alessandra, the owner, was there to help us and offer us about 5 kinds of tiramisu. There's also all types of other treats and great coffee. I'm going back this weekend to practice my Italian again.

Arlenis in Time magazine

Time magazine has a new article and spread on Africa and they used our favorite Dominican model Arlenis. Arlenis looks great and I just wanted to show some of these so that we can keep track of her. She is going to be all over the place this year, specially when those Lancome ads come out. Have you seen her in the GAP ads? Very very cute.

Look at Lady GaGa

Lady GaGa wants you to look at her.
No, really. She will die if you don't look right now. Because seriously, homegirl can have some fashion sense and not have to look crazy. There has to be a way.
Anyways, here she is in all her glory.

Watchmen does not hold back

Let me start by saying that this was a pretty good movie. A superhero film for adults. Watchmen is rated R and has enough coursing in it to make you blush. The director is the same guy that did the movie 300, so you know the fight scenes are awesome. The story is also pretty good, even though I never read the graphic novel. My main concern though is how many times they show Dr. Manhattan's penis. In the graphic novel this guy is naked all the time. I guess they wanted to stay true to that because in the movie he is just as naked and they show his huge blue penis and ass ALL THE TIME. That's all anyone could talk about after the movie ended.
I say go see watchmen because I was not bored the entire time.

My mom is a model for the runway!

I CAN'T EVEN TAKE IT.
Let me start out by saying that my mom is one of the most amazing women I have ever met. She is smart, full of energy and charisma, and a true fighter. The most recent display of her magical powers comes to us in the form of a fashion show. She was modeling clothes for IBERIA MODA in Santo Domingo and it was such a hit that it made the paper called HOY. The event is also going to be shown in Dominican fashion channels. I am trying to get a higher resolution image from the people that wrote the article, but for now this is all I have to work with.

Stay tuned...I think Oscar De La Renta is next. lol
Love you mom!

Happy Independence Day Dominican Republic!

On this day, like a million years ago, Dominican Republic got it's independence from Haiti. It seems like my people never caught a break. First, they were torn apart by the Spanish. Then Haiti takes over. Then dictator Trujillo kills who knows how many innocent people AND then the U.S.A invades (providing Dominicans with their fascination for baseball). A lot of stuff has gone down in that little island. I'm surprised it's still there, but I am shocked at how little attention it is given in the history books. Dominican Republic has been an island of firsts in America.

Make sure you go out and have a PRESIDENTE beer today and celebrate. That's what I'll be doing at Paladar tonight in the lower east side.

Oscars: What worked and what fell flat

I have to say, I think that the Oscars were an overall better experience than the last 3 shows they have televised. These people know they are in danger, the ratings were at an all time low. It was time for a big changes. I think some of these paid off and some did not. Here is my list.

FABULOUS:
1. Bringing past Oscar winners as multiple presenters worked amazingly well in the categories were awards were given to women. It was a really good way to show that it really is an honor just to be nominated and to see a human side to these actresses. They all responded with teary eyes and gratitude.

2. Hugh Jackman does it all. The man can sing, dance, act, look hot, be funny. I mean, he looked like he was actually loving it up there. It seemed like it was his for the taking.

3. Sean Penn winning for MILK was amazing. He deserved the award, unlike Mickey R who was the favorite for playing a character that is basically his own life story, except he's a wrestler.

4. Penelope was so cute with her speech. She made me so excited for her. Her speech was warm and it showed that she has different layers, aside from just being gorgeous.

5. Anne Hathaway sings really well. Like, really.

6. Tina Fey and Steve Martin bring it. The writters were full force at the awrads and their bit was very funny. Tina seems like someone who could actually host the awards one day.

NOT FABULOUS:
1. The musical is not back. That whole routine with Beyonce and all the dancing and singing was way too long and boring. I was hating every second and why the F*** does Beyonce have to be in EVERYTHING!??!

2. The past Oscars winners presenting worked great for the women, but for the men it was horrible to watch. They forgot their lines, the jokes fell flat, and it was not as heartwarming as it could have been. They should make the men's intro next time a little more comedic. Seems like the gents are better at this.

3. What the hell was that whole best song performance all about? I was kinda sitting there trying to figure out who was the idiot that came up with this. First of all, why is Slumdog nominated twice in that same category? Out of all the songs in soundtracks this year, you mean to tell me that those 2 were some of the best? I FIND THAT HARD TO BELIEVE!
Second, Why is John Legend singing with these guys in some weird Hindi/R&B mix? That part of the show made me cringe, a lot. BUT, I loved how Alicia Keys was presenting immediately after this and she looks like she was about to bust out laughing from all that lameness.

Let's hope that for next years show the academy imrpoves on what worked and gets rid of what fell flat. I will be watching.

The Drag race is ON!

Omigod.
You have not seen true awesomeness until you watch RuPauls Drag Race!
This show has so many different elements to it and its so hilarious. RuPaul brings out every and any Diva he can think of giving you all types of looks. He is such a good entertainer. He controls everything down to the inflections he uses in speech. It is easy to see how he got so famous.
I just sat here and watched the first 3 episodes and all I can say is that I will be an idiot not to become absolutely obsessed with this show. OBSESSED!
I live for this now. And let the record show that aside from Family Guy reruns, this is the only show I am watching as of now because TV is on a downward spiral.

If Britney can do it, so can Lindsay

I am still holding on to some sort of hope that Lindsay Lohan will come back and make it out of whatever pit she's in. If Britney can go ape shit on everyone, buzz all her hair, get fat, show her cooch and have drama with her ex taking custody of her kids, then Lindsay can overcome as well. I saw her in Interview magazine and I thought she looked pretty good. Plus she has some new movie called Labor Pains coming out in a couple of months and the plot is promising...

Lil' Kim is dancing with the stars

The queen B is going to be on prime time. I am scared because you just never know what is going to come out of her. She will be trying to upstage everyone, so it might be fun to see what type of crazy mess she gets into. Having that said, I hate this show and all its guts, so maybe I will just youtube it in a few weeks.

That shopaholic movie just stole my 12 bucks.

Seems like I have had incredibly bad judgement when it comes to the recent movie choices I have made. Just the other day I complained about the Hes just not that into you movie and sadly I am on here again reporting that Hollywood has tricked me yet again and this time with an even worse movie called Shopaholic. I almost walked out. I really did, but I got lazy and had nothing else to do anyway, so I stayed and watched in anguish. Who the hell is this movie made for? Hes just not that into you was made for crazy neurotic women, but at least it was made for women. This movie was made for 7 year old girls or something. It was sad. Maybe I need other people to go tell me what to watch because clearly I have put way too much credibility on these so called trailers.
DO NOT LET THE TRAILERS DECEIVE YOU PEOPLE! SAVE YOUR MONEY!

oh, and that Isla Fisher is no Amy Adams. and wont ever be. ever.

I'm just not that into terrible plot lines...

Went to see He's just not that into you and I figured out 3 things:
1. I am allergic to Jennifer Aniston.
2. Scarlett is playing the same character she played in Vicky Cristina Barcelona
3. I will never get those 12 dollars back. Never.

This movie made women look like neurotic freaks that have the intelligence level of a donkey. The sad part is that in the movie theater my friend and I spotted a lot of women that were relating to this mess. They really "understood" the message of the movie. I think these girls have problems and they watch movies like these so they can reassure themselves that in the end it will all be a happy ending and some man is going to come along and love you even if you are crazy.

Julie & Julia

Sometimes you get distracted from the things that are really important in life. You work so hard, you have relationship issues, you miss a certain someone, and you forget to slow down. The moments when you do the simplest of things are when you are probably the happiest. This book is re-affirming the notion that simplicity is the key to life. Julie Powell took a Julia Child cookbook and blogged for an entire year about her experience recreating the dishes. I just bought this book and I’m only up to chapter 3, but I have a feeling that it’s going to be inspiring. I picked it up not only because I like Julia Child, but because there is a movie in the works that will star Amy Adams as Julie and Meryl Streep as Julia Child. Now I find myself wanting to know more about Julia Child and I think after this I will pick up the memoirs of her life in Paris…

Rihanna gets the beat down...

Rumor has it that Chris Brown and Rihanna got into an argument and then Chris went ahead and smacked her. Can you believe it? He is on the same list I have R.Kelly on. The "you are dead to me' list. I mean, the only way this could be acceptable is if it was in self defense and Rihanna was about to beat him with a bat or a hammer, but please. Most likely this was not the case. Stay tuned because I'm sure that TV land won't shut up about this all of this week.

Jennifer Hudson sings the national anthem like I've never heard.

I don't watch the Superbowl, but I saw Jennifer Hudson's performance last night online. She is visibly in a different state, does not smile once, but when she sings that song its like she's singing for her life! What an amazing rendition of our national anthem. I don't think I've heard a better one to date. Amazing!
