He-Man is coming...

A little birdie called Variety magazine told me that the Masters of the Universe franchise is picking up full speed. I think we have to thank the success of Transformers for this. In the end, I'm going to love this, but what I love even more is that the countdown for the Jem movie is not too far away. I can feel it!

Thor Hotel has nice brunch

The cat is out of the bag. The Hotel on Rivington, AKA Thor, has a pretty cute brunch going on and comes with coffee and 2 drinks of your choice. They have some good eats on there (even though the burger is off the menu as of last weekend). Its a nice open area when you sit, so there's lots of light and the staff is usually very attentive (except last week when Mr. gay guy was our waiter instead of super friendly and lovable Ms. pregnant waitress named Margot). It's a good place to start your day.
By the way, on New years eve I randomly went in here with Cristina to check out the party. It was pretty easy to get in. We went upstairs and found a grove in a conference room where salt N peppa was playing. I proceeded to hump the table and dance, and that's when security came in and told me about myself. ha ha. I laughed so hard because all I kept thinking was how this guy is gonna go home and to his friends and say, "yeah, today I caught some guy humping the table. Just another day in my crazy ass job!".

Blake is a classy girl...

Blake is not one of my favorite people and I do not watch Gossip Girl, but I have had reason to think about her all week. First of all, she is wearing Ralph Lauren in her spread for Vogue. Looks like a classy girl that lives on the upper east side...um, is her character on Gossip girl even a character, or is it just her acting like her normal self? Well, I work for RL now, so I'm keeping an eye out for the clothes I see in the magazines.

I was also thinking about how famous she is getting and how her just as pretty co star is getting thrown into teen magazines while Blake gets to do Vogue and W magazine. Why? Most people I talk to that watch the show tell me they all pretty much love the other girl and her character is much better than Serena's. BUT There is something to be said when I can't remember the other co stars name or the name of her character on the show after someone just told me last night.

History in the making

The Obama's are front and center today as they become the nations first family. It is a historic day. In these times of economic hardship and wars overseas it has become more and more evident that we need someone who is truely qualified to lead this country. The exitement that this one man has generated is what touches me the most. Hope is alive and well here in America.

"The Fear" makes it hard to hate Lily

Lily Allen is one of those girls. You know, she causes drama, talks a lot of crap, and is always saying just a little more than she should. I loved her first album and now that I'm hearing some of the songs slated to appear on her second effort I'm kind of excited. The lyrics to her new song "The Fear" are amazing. Some of the lyrics are,

"Life’s about film stars and less about mothers
It’s all about fast cars and cussing each other
But it doesn’t matter cause I’m packing plastic
and that’s what makes my life so f***ing fantastic."

Kate Winslet is a winner...

Kate Winslet just won 2 golden globes. One for The Reader and the other for Revolutionary Road. I'm excited because I have been so into her for years in movies like Finding Neverland, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I thought Anne Hathaway was going to win, but turned out that the Hollywood Foreign Press really likes Kate and I'm glad.

By the way, when I saw Finding Neverland I was on a plane to the Bahamas and I was on that plane crying like someone died. Ranise Jackson is my witness. That was one of the funniest moments of all time.

Obama is friends with Spider-Man

Marvel is so excited about our new president elect that they decided to include him in one of their comic books. Obama is in the pages of Spider-Man!
I think a lot of people are going to get a kick out of this. AND Obama gives Spider-Man his famous pound. Below is one of the comic strips he is in.
What do you think?
January 20th is around the corner and this just got me more excited about the presidential inauguration.

The milky way galaxy is bigger then we thought...

In 2009 I will post a little more on things that affect us more than just movies and fashion.
For example, I found out that in 2008 scientists discovered that the Milky Way galaxy (you know, the galaxy we are in right now) is about 50 percent bigger than what we thought it was! Really? And we are just finding out about this? Looks like space is a lot more complicated than anybody thought. New discoveries are being made everyday and people don't have all the answers. Who knows what we will discover next?...

By the way, since we are inside the galaxy, it's a little harder to see because we do not have a direct perspective. Mark Reid of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics says, "The best method is to measure how quickly the galaxy is rotating and back out to the amount of mass that would have to exist in the structure to generate that velocity."

Yeah people. WAKE UP! We are going to get smarter this year with the blog and you should at least know the size of the galazy you are in.

for sure.

Louis Vuitton Soho store adds graffiti

hmm...

Very interesting that the Louis Vuitton store in Soho has now added some pretty cool graffiti to it's main entrance. I'm feeling it!

I bet Marc Jacobs has something to do with this. I will have to investigate further.

You have to listen to Empire of the Sun!

Empire of the Sun is made up of an Australian duo and I think I'm a little late on catching on to them, but late is better than nothing. This is an amazing 80's sound but with very new techno elements. I keep listenning to their song "Walking on a dream".
The video is a little weird and these guys are basically in costume, but at least they are not some generic manufactured product. They are 2 very musical guys bringing the style they like to the musical table. This is for sure on my top 10 at the moment. Hurry up and listen to it so you can tell me if you like it...

Back by popular demand!

We are bringing the Fabulous back in 2009!
Thank you to everyone that said they wish they had my blog to read on Sunday morning.
I really appreciate all the support and to be honest I was missing the blog a little myself.
Get ready everyone because the blog is coming back in a big way. In some months I will be selling a book that will have the best of the blog and it will kind of be a little bit of a NYC guide as well. Stay tuned and stay FABULOUS!

(Pictures of me with all the graffiti were taken Summer 2008 by Craig Gallek)
